What is Subsidence

Subsidence is downward movement of the foundations of a building or a structure due to changes in the underlying soil conditions. Sometimes subsidence is used to refer to occurrence of heave or upward movement of the underlying ground, and also to occurrence of landslip, where the ground slowly slides down a slope.
